This is a brilliant take on Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park. After scientist brought the dinosaurs back, 99.9% humanity was destroyed, and forced into underground bomb shelters, originally made for the chance of a nuclear fallout. Sky, a resident of one of these shelters, receives a message from her disappeared father, and she needs to deliver it. Sky is an interesting character, as she sometimes even pity's the dinosaurs, which is unlike all the other characters. Laura Martin really manages to somehow make earth seem so alien, and weird, and I love it. This is a brilliant series about vampires who live in secret, and are not that similar to the creature of myth. Told by the perspective of a young half-vampire Darren Shan, you are taken on a journey to the secret world of the vampires. The characters are likeable, the story is... slightly bizarre, but overall, they are brilliant, except for the, ending, because that is confusing and weird. However, the first book is heavily focused on the spider Madam Octa, and some people may dislike reading about spiders, but it isn't awful. This is another funny book by Jamie Thomson. Better than the first, this book revolves around Dirk and Christopher getting Sooz, the child of night, back to earth where she belongs. Meanwhile Sooz is having her own kind of fun in the darklands. This is an imaginative fun book that is witty and clever. I like how Jamie Thomson pulls out something highly unexpected at every chance he gets, and it is always interesting to read on, even just for the crazy schemes! Don't get me wrong, this is a great book, but  it just isn't as good as a lot. The story introduces you Storm and Lincoln, who live in a mundane almost Hunger Games esque city, and they must face the extinction trials in order to try and take the dinosaurs land. This is an interesting Jurassic Park spin-off gone wild, and it as constant danger and adrenaline. However, this novel does get a bit repetitive and possibly boring after so long. Though the main characters are strong. Stormchaser is a wily passionate girl who wants to save the dinosaurs, and Lincoln is an enigmatic boy who wants to save his sister. After the thrilling Gone series, I was excited for this book. I shouldn't have been. It was very disappointing, as it removed all the original characters, except for Dekka, which was most shocking. What also made it worse was that instead of having powers like in the originals, the affected people morph into beasts, and have a really weird storyline. The characters are bland, the story is confusing and it didn't really appeal to me. The cast is mainly adults so it doesn't have the same vibe.
